We always like catching up with our friends at Jackall at ICAST. They always have some cool new technology introduced in their baits, and this year it was something called I-Motion. The concept is to naturally mimic a baitfish that is not threatened. A minnow when it swims has almost no noticable side-to-side movement.

The two new lures incoporating this technology in the Jackall line were the SeiraMinnow 80S (hard bait) and the iShad (soft bait).

The SierraMinnow is a long slender minnow profile lure that has a small hole at the mouth that actually takes water through and then pushes it out little slits along the gills. That keeps the bait swimming straight and also the water displacement is something bass can feel.

The iShad is a soft bait that is also a slender narrow profile. From the cross section photo you can see the plastic is denser on the bottom. That acts as a keel that minimizes the movement of the bait. As it moves through the water there is an ever-so-slight vibration of the tail. They created a nose-jighead that is used to pull the bait straight through the water.

The technique is very popular right now in Japan and is made for ultra-clear, pressured reservoirs. Basically you just cast the baits out, point your rod tip toward the bait and just slowly reel it back in.

The other new baits in their lineup were two crankbaits called the Bling 55 and the Soul Shad 68P. The Bling 55 gives them a flat-bodied crankbait with a circuit-board lip for fishing around shallow cover. The Soul Shad is more ove a minnow profile similar to a Shad Rap. The baits are both less than 3-inches in length, but because of a magnetic weight transfer system, they can be thrown extremely far. Both crankbaits will retail for $14.99.

They also introduced a soft-bodied bluegill swimbait called the SwimmingNinja G90 and a jighead type swimbait called the AmmoniteShad. The SwimmingNinja G90 will be a dynamite little bait for fishing around spawning bass and during the bluegill spawn. It's nose down posture makes it look like it's eating eggs when it's paused to sink to the bottom.

The AmmoniteShad can be fished on a jighead or on a big offset widegap hook weighted or unweighted. The unique aspect is because of the bulky shape of the body and the shape of the paddle tail the tail actually pivots around in a circle rather than just shimmying side to side. It also has a pocket built in for inserting a rattle.

In Japan anglers throw this bait a lot on those new Zappu Mustang jigheads with a Zappu rattle inserted in the pocket.
